- Well...music for one. Whether rock and roll or country, jazz or motown, the blues or grunge, a lot of great music has come from our neighbours down south.
- Food is another. Those Americans do love their food - That's for sure! Anyone ever try a true, southern barbeque? Mmmm...slow cooked pork, black eyed peas, turnip greens, creamed corn, and a good old fashioned American apple pie.
- The American army - fighting for our democratic values and our free way of life. Thankful to have such a powerful ally that shares common beliefs.
And then this lady tells everyone what American thing she is thankful for. Are you ready? ...the American thing she is thankful for is that most people there speak english. hahaha.. I said, "Pardon?" I didn't even know what she meant by her comment.
Anyway, it reminded me of my friends living abroad. They have been living out of Canada for over three years now. They have travelled to more places than I can ever imagine. Anyway, last month, they went to Australia and they were excited because it was the first time in three years, that they've travelled to a country that speaks english as a predominate language. Although, I think the first lady was being a little cynical, my friends are quite the contrary. Anyway, it made me smile.
To check out stories from their AUS-some adventures, check out http://www.starlightstarbright09.blogspot.com/. It's Emily's blog. Yes, the one always bringing me "good" news. And the only one who actually comments in the sections down below. haha. I love all the comments I get in my inbox and on my phone too!! I'm not hating. haha
Happy Weekend!
