A Legion branch in Campbellford, Ontario is to reopen after the controversial Halloween festivities that took place last week. I actually heard of this last night, for the first time. For those out of the loop, like me, a Halloween party was thrown at a Royal Canadian Legion branch in Campbellford last week. The winning costume for best couple - someone dressed up as a member of the Ku Klux Klan with a rope around another man's neck. The other man is covered in black face paint. And that was the best costumed couple of the night!
Wow. What can I say? I wasn't there, so I don't really know what actually happened. Apparently the FORMER POLICE OFFICER, that was dressed as the man with the black paint, is apologetic if he offended anyone. If he offended anyone?! Really? How can you dress like that and expect NOT to offend anyone. I'm as white as they come, and this story disgusted me. There isn't too much in the world that can symbolize more hate than the KKK.
Why on earth, would you want to dress up as someone who hunted people at night based on the colour of their skin? You're poking fun at the thousands of victims that were assaulted and murdered for no reason. You're embarassing me, as a human being.
If they truly are sorry, I'm the one who feels sorry for them. Not only do they wear this riducolous costume, they wear it to a Legion party of all places. The Klan were the American version of the Nazis. No way around it. Our veterans fought so that those pychos didn't control Europe. This is a slap in the face for all those brave men and women who fought for our freedom. The Legion is a place to celebrate our heros and our victories -and then we have some ape that comes in dressed in a KKK robe/hood with his prey.
The thing that really baffles me, is that they WON! WTF!? Who voted for them? How the...? What the...? ...crazy, I tell you.
And the icing on the cake is that this wasn't the only costume in poor taste. Another man at the same party was dressed as Hitler. No joke.
WOW. what is there to say about this even?? unreal.
